Projektbeschreibung
The family-based intervention for mutation carriers and their high-risk female relatives aims to increase: 1) knowledge of breast cancer genetics; 2) informed decision-making about genetic testing; 3) active coping about hereditary cancer risk; and 4) family communication about genetic test results. Focus groups with mutation carriers and their high-risk relatives (N= 12 individuals) helped refine the content of the intervention and determine mode of delivery and dose (i.e., number of sessions).  The effects of this family-based intervention are tested with a new sample of mutation carriers and their high-risk relatives (N= 64 mutation carrier-relative dyads) using pre-intervention (T0) and post-intervention (T1) assessments.
