Anja Orschulko studied Social Anthropology, Geography and African Studies with a focus on Public Health & Social Life at the University of Basel and at the Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow. During and after her studies, she worked at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) in the social science components of various national and international projects. Through an internship at the Careum School of Health, Zurich she entered the field of nursing research and worked in different projects on outpatient care in Switzerland between 2020 and 2022. She has been involved in different projects at the INS since 2023.

In February 2026, she started her PhD under the direction of Prof. Dr. Franziska Zúñiga. The PhD project focuses on the sustainability phase of the INTERSCALE project.
