Zoe Barois completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2017, under The Maastricht Science Programme, where she specialised in Biomedical Science at Maastricht University. She then obtained her Master’s degree in Global Health Research at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2020. Alongside her MSc, Zoe completed an applied research internship with Gentest Institute in Istanbul, where she evaluated their personalised healthcare approach to preventing non-communicable diseases. After graduating, she then joined Wageningen University & Research as a Project Advisor, where she applied a systems thinking lens to bridge the science–policy–practice gap on projects in One Health and zoonotic disease prevention. From February 2026, Zoe Barois will begin her PhD at the Institute for Nursing Science at the University of Basel as part of the LifeLUNG Doctoral Network. Her PhD project focuses on strengthening translational research in personalised medicine, where she will adopt an implementation science approach in the LifeLUNG project, bringing gene therapy in lung transplantation closer to clinical practice. During her PhD, Zoe will be supervised by Prof. Sabina De Geest.
