Biosketch
Jana Bartakova is an independent Senior Researcher in health economics at the University of Basel’s Institute of Nursing Science (Switzerland). She earned her PhD (2016) from Charles University in Prague in biomedical informatics/health economics, following a Master’s degree (2012) in health services engineering from the Czech Technical University and a Bachelor’s (2010) in medical technology from Charles University. From 2014 to 2022, she served as an Assistant Professor at Charles University’s Institute of Biophysics and Informatics (Prague). From 2017 to 2020, she worked as a Health Technology Assessment Analyst in industry, specializing in the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals and medical technologies. She also advised the Czech Ministry of Health on health economics.
Since 2019, Dr. Bartakova has been based at the Institute of Nursing Science, University of Basel (Switzerland), initially as a postdoctoral researcher and fellow. She now leads independent research on health economics applied to nursing science and healthcare, analyzing optimal resource allocation to improve patient outcomes and working conditions for healthcare professionals. She continues to serve as the primary supervisor of doctoral candidates at both the First and Second Medical Faculties of Charles University (Prague).
