Jana Bartakova is a health economist and completed her doctorate in 2016 at the Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague. Jana earned her Master of Engineering degree in Systematic Integration Processes in Health Services 2012 at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Czech Technical University and her Bachler’s degree in Medical Devices 2010 at the Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague. Between 2014 and 2022 Jana had been working as an Assistant Professor at Charles University’s Institute of Biophysics and Informatics in Prague. Between 2017 and 2020, Jana also became Health Technology Assessment Analyst at a private company where she specialized in Health Economics of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices. Jana ist also co-investigator of the research project at the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic, which is investigating the cost-effectiveness of screening thyroid disorders in pregnancy.

Since 2019 Jana has been working as a postdoc at the Institute of Nursing Science at the University of Basel under the direction of Prof. Dr. Michael Simon. In 2021 Jana obtained from the European Commission, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action, Individual fellowship for her research project HONEST (The effect of wages on patient safety outcomes), which is hosted by the University of Basel with the World Health Organization in Geneve as a secondment.
